Staff Bios

  • A native of Minnesota, Ben has built his career in the golf industry in South Florida, where he has held several positions since moving to the area in 2008. He got his professional career started as the assistant head golf professional at Riverwood National Golf Clbu in Otesego, Minn. in 2006 before moving to Palm-Aire Country Club in Pompanao Beach, Fla. as the Head Golf Professional in 2008. He also served as the Director of Operations and General Manager at Heron Bay Golf Club in Coral Springs for two years, during which he acted as the Tournament Director for the Dixie Amateur Championship. After brief stints as the District Manager with CanAm and as the Director of Golf at The Florida Club in Stuart, Fla., Ben joined Palm Beach County Golf as the Assistant Golf Course Manager at Okeeheelee Golf Course in January of 2015.
  • A Class A PGA member with over twenty years experience as a Head Golf Professional at golf clubs from New York to Florida, Ken Smythe has been with Osprey Point since the facility opened in 2011. He has served as the assistant manager since 2011 and also briefly acted as the Interim Golf Course Manager in 2015. Ken was raised on Long Island, N.Y., attended college in North Carolina and has had the majority of his work experience in South Florida since 1990.
  • A native of Oyster Bay, N.Y., Bobby moved to South Florida in 2006. His first foray into golf in South Florida was at Boca Dunes Country Club, where he served as the Assistant Pro during his first year in the state before becoming a Teaching Pro the next year. A 2005 graduate of the San Diego Golf Academy in Orlando, Bobby also holds a Callaway Club Fitting Certification and is a U.S. Kids certified golf coach. In addition to his instructional duties, Bobby has also served as the Junior Golf Chairman of the South Florida PGA Southeast Section, a position he held from 2009 through 2011.
  • One of the most respected golf instructors in the world, Don Law has been a PGA member since 1993 and opened the Don Law Golf Academy in 1999. A recognized expert in teaching the game of golf and possessing a passion for junior instruction, he has won numerous awards, beginning with the South Florida Section of the PGA Junior Golf Leader of the Year in 2001. He garnered a PGA Distinguished Service Award in 2006 and has been named the area's Golf Professional of the Year three times in the last 10 years. Don was inducted into the South Florida Section of the PGA Hall of Fame in 2013 and has been named a Top 50 Instructor by Golf Range of America three times. The awards have continued as in 2015, Don was named to Swing Man Golf's Top 100 Most Popular Golf Instructors in the World.
  • With more than 27 years experience, Scott's has shared his expertise of maintaining pristine conditions on golf courses around the world. Most of his experience has come in the South Florida area, as he has served as the superintendent for both private and public golf courses from Vero Beach to Boca Raton. After beginning his career with an 11-year stint at the Boca West Country Club, where he worked his way from an entry level foreman to the course superintendent within his first three years, Scott served as the course superintendent at Frenchman's Reserve, Mizner Country Club and Tesoro-Ginn Clubs in Port St. Lucie. In 2008, he took his talents international as he was hired as the senior golf course superintendent overseeing the construction and maintenance Meilan Golf Club in Hainan, China and the renovation and redesign of Beijing Country and Golf Club in Beijing, China. Scott also overall construction of Smokin Hills Golf Club in Ilara Mokin, Nigeria before returning to the United States in 2013 to take over as the Golf Course Superintendent at Osprey Point.
